URGENT ISSUES

Some months back the governemt of Burundi  provided food for rebels,and the situation became relatevely calmer. Now ,the food aid has stopped and the leader of the CNDD FDD movement, Peter Nkurunziza,  announced that he has stopped talks with major Pierre Buyoya, President of Burundi  concerning the continuation of the cease fire accord  they signed.  That means that violence has increased in rural areas including ambushes along roads.
